John Hill bio portrait - Freshwater Church June 2017 (1).JPG

John came to the Lord in 1975 and experienced immediate new birth in Christ. From that day forward, John immersed himself in the Word and joined a local church. Since his conversion, John has served in many capacities in a variety of church settings. John felt called to pastoral ministry in 1995 and began to seek training and counsel. He was ordained to pastoral ministry in 1998 and was called as Pastor of Bealeton Baptist Church in Bealeton, Virginia. As Pastor, John served bi-vocationally and was President of a small engineering firm in Northern Virginia. John served Bealeton Baptist Church until 2001, when the growth of the church and the demands of the company compelled him to devote himself full-time to the engineering firm. Following the sale of the firm and retirement, John aided another engineering firm in Buffalo, NY while also serving in Randall Baptist Church with teaching and other positions for four years. John has been actively involved in Freshwater Church since 2014, participating in both teaching and preaching since 2015 when he and his wife Anne moved to St John as their sole residence. In 2016, John became Co-Pastor of Freshwater Church. Following the departure of the Founding Pastor, John was called by Freshwater Church to serve as Pastor in August, 2017.

John holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from the University of Pittsburgh; a Master’s Degree in Mining Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University; and has received seminary level training through intensive courses, through Pastoral study groups, and through self-study.

John has been married to his wife, Anne, since 1980. They have five children and four grandchildren.

Emily and her husband, Sean, relocated to St. John from Indiana in June, 2017. Seeking a church in their new home, Emily and Sean found and joined Freshwater Church. This quickly lead to using her talents to lead worship music during Sunday services. Her administrative skills have been instrumental as the church grows. Emily is the author of a popular Instagram blog called “Corn to Caribbean” (@corntocaribbean) which chronicles her island adventures with Sean and their dog, Sailor.
